Best of list

Everyone does best of lists that have to do with books or music or movies or other non-personal stuff. That's ok (except if Kate Bush made your list), but I'm going a different route.

BEST CLIMBING TRIP:

Bear Creek Spire, Oct 2006



I met my dad @ Mosquito Flat on a dreary and cold friday morning and we trundled up the trail to dade lake in spitting snow. Set up camp under some pine trees and watched the weather get worse. We pretty much got skunked, but I got a Kick Ass photo of the sunset which was worthy of printing big.

The Spire was unclimbable in the morning and the hike out was painful and dangerous with packs and slippery snow covered rocks. But it was great to hang out with my dad, just the two of us, like we did so many times when we were younger. Those were the days. Skiing @ Winter Park, hiking 14ers in CO, driving down the snowy road to sierra Summit @ Night and sleeping in the back of the bronco with a space heater, learning to climb @ Kern Slab, peering into Ubeeheebee crater @ night so black from the glare of headlights that it looked like an endless pit into nowhere...

We had juevos rancheros @ the breakfast club, climbed a little near crowley, soaked a little, had pizza, went to a movie, hiked to Duck Lake, Camped in the cold. Just me and my paw, it was killer!
